About us

E. Palmer Supermarket, founded in 2021 by Michael and Esron Palmer, emerged from a shared vision: to address the dearth of healthy food options in our community, particularly fresh fruits and vegetables. Our unwavering mission is to deliver quality, nutritious food to our local neighborhoods. As a veteran-owned and locally operated grocery store, E. Palmer Supermarket offers an array of high-quality, health-conscious products at affordable prices.

We are locally owned and operated, with a deep commitment to the people of Norfolk, Virginia. Our pride lies in being an integral part of the community we serve. What truly distinguishes us is our diverse selection of Caribbean, African, and Latino products. We celebrate cultural diversity and offer a shopping experience that reflects the rich tapestry of our community. Additionally, we hold our seniors in high regard. When you visit our store, enjoy a complimentary breakfast on us! Their valuable feedback guides our continuous improvement efforts.

E Palmer Supermarket is a minority and veteran owned grocery store located in the Berkley community of Norfolk, Virginia that provides affordable and quality healthy food options to its customers. It was founded in 2021 by father and son duo, Michael and Esron Palmer, who partnered together after realizing the community was located in a food dessert, having limited options to fresh produce and healthy food options. The Supermarket provides options for a diverse and affordable shopping experience, offering programs such as The Virginia Fresh Match Program, which offers 50% off fruits and vegetables when using a EBT Snap Benefits card, and the option to pay with a health benefits card, which is a monthly allotment issued by customers health insurance provider. Its diverse selection of grocery and health products include African, Caribbean, Hispanic, and Asian products to accommodate a variety of cultures in their shopping needs. Thee Soul Food Kitchen Restaurant is located within the supermarket, offering customers the option of hot, southern-style, cooked soul food meals during or after their shopping experience. The restaurant offers a variety of meal options serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and gives free breakfast to seniors every first Tuesday of each month.
